BARRON COUNTY (WQOW) - A man accused of child sexual assault in Barron County has pleaded guilty to a lesser charge on Friday. Steven Markegard, originally from Rice Lake, was accused in 2024 of child sexual assault. According to court records, Markegard currently resides in Germany. He appeared virtually for Friday's court proceedings. Markegard pleaded guilty to an amended charge of child enticement. His sentencing is scheduled for April.
